PIU Day of Prayer

Monday, January 24, 2016 at 2:30 PM

Tuesday, January 25, 2016,  is Pacific Islands University’s Prayer Chapel and conclusion to our Day of Prayer.

The Day of Prayer began at Noon today with a time of prayer led by Dr David L. Owen, President of PIU, in the Pavilion at the center of campus with everyone invited to join.

Dr. Owen has committed himself to a “no solid food fast” for the 24 hours from the opening prayer service until the end of chapel on Tuesday. This will be a reminder to him of his dependence on God, the need to take prayer seriously and to focus on the needs of everyone in the PIU community. He would invite you to join him in this spiritual discipline as the Spirit leads you (you may want to fast from TV, internet, a certain type of food you like etc. to help you focus on God).

He would also urge you to spend the dinner and breakfast hours praying individually or in groups. Dr Owen suggests that students may want to set up dorm groups, for example, to pray at certain times of the day – voluntarily.

Students, faculty, and staff will all gather together in Tuesday chapel to pray as a PIU family.
