Is the program accredited?

Pacific Islands University is nationally accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS). TRACS is recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the US Department of Education as an approved accrediting agency.

What are the admissions requirements?

  1. Completion of an Application
  2. Completion of a Placement Test
  3. If a first time college student, a high school transcript.
  4. If a transfer student, your official transcripts from your other institutions.
  5. Online video interview or reference
  6. For on-campus students, a copy of your immunization record.

How many credits can I transfer in?

You can transfer up to 60 credits to PIU from accredited US institutions of higher education.

What is the enrollment process?

  1. Submit your application
  2. Complete an enrollment session in-person or by video with your advisor
  3. Submit your FAFSA application
  4. If you are transferring from another institution, submit your official transcripts for transfer credit evaluation

Is financial aid available?

Yes, PIU is approved to offer federal financial aid including Pell Grants and Federal Loans.  See Financial Aid for more information or speak to your enrollment advisor once you complete your application.




PIU also offers a payment plan option for students paying out of pocket.

How quickly can I finish my degree?

If you start our program by transferring in 60 credit hours, it is possible for you to graduate within 2 years if you take 9 credit hours per semester including the summer. You will be able to accelerate the completion of your degree depending on your effort, the number of courses you are able take, the number of credits you transfer and the number of credits you can earn while working.

When do classes start?

Classes typically start on a traditional fall, spring and summer semester schedule.

Applications are due by July 31 for the Fall, by December 10 for the Spring and by April 15 for the Summer to ensure you have time to finalize your financial aid and participate in our kick-off activities.

Are courses self-paced?

Some courses allow you to accelerate, but we do require you to complete each course on a set schedule. We will nurture you through the process so you’ll be confident in your ability to succeed.

Can I start at any time?

We accept applications throughout the year. Classes start three times a year at the beginning of each semester.

How do I send my official transcripts to PIU?

You will want to contact your university and ask them to send your transcript electronically to Pacific Islands University.  For our on-campus program, email to transcripts@piu.edu.  For PIU Online, email to transcripts@piu.online.

What does tuition cost?

Tuition Per Credit Hour is $273

Can non-U.S. citizens apply?

If you are a Non-US Citizen looking to earn your degree, please note our standard program requirements:

  • Completion of an Application
  • Completion of a Placement Test
  • If a first time college student, a high school transcript.
  • If a transfer student, your official transcripts from your other institutions.
  • Online video interview or reference
  • For on-campus students, a copy of your immunization record.

In addition to the above, the following steps may also be required:

  1. Submit valid immigration documents to your advisor.
  2. Review the information provided by the Department of Homeland Security for students from outside the US here.
  3. Possibly take the TOEFL or other English language proficiency exam.

The TOEFL® (Test of English as a Foreign Language™) covers all facets of English proficiency, including a test of spoken English. TOEFL iBT (internet based) measures reading, listening, speaking and writing skills and takes approximately 4.5 hours. It is offered on computer 30-40 times a year at test centers throughout the world.

The following score requirements may be necessary for entry into the program:

  • Speaking score of 24
  • Listening score of 22
  • Reading score of 22
  • Writing score of 21
