Ways to pay your tuition:

Paying with Financial Aid

The majority of PIU students qualify for federal financial aid, making it possible for them to complete their degrees. There are different types of financial aid for which you may be eligible.  Submit your FAFSA and the code below to learn the aid packages available to you.

Federal Grants

Pell Grants: These need-based grants are awarded to students who have not yet earned a bachelor’s degree. 

Supplemental Educational Opportunity (SEOG) Grants: These need-based grants are available for students who have not yet earned a bachelor’s degree and demonstrate exceptional financial need when filing the FAFSA. 

Federal Student Loans

Federal Direct Loans (Subsidized): The interest on these need-based loans is paid by the federal government while you are enrolled in school at least half time or during deferment periods. 

Federal Direct Loans (Unsubsidized): These loans are available to most PIU students. You are responsible for the interest from the day you borrow the money until you repay the loan. 

Self-pay

For students who plan to pay for tuition without government assistance, payments or payment arrangements must be completed on or before the 60 days prior to program start date. 

Veterans benefits

Military tuition assistance

PIU‘s degree programs are approved for Tuition Assistance for active-duty, reserve, and National Guard service members.

NOTE:

1The typical cost of attendance as a full-time student are based on the assumptions that an Independent student is sharing his/her room with another student and one (1) semester is a four (4)month period of class attendance. Only applies to on-campus students.

Amounts for food, transportation and personal expenses vary and are not included, they should be kept in mind when the overall costs are counted. For students whose permanent residence is not Guam, a round trip airfare must be added (~$1500.00).

The student still needs to calculate additional costs of approximately $150.00 for
textbooks. Only applies to on-campus students.

*Textbooks/Materials are not included in the computation, the student still needs to calculate additional costs of approximately $150.00 for textbooks. Only applies to on-campus students.

NOTE:

A full-time student (taking a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester), while maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or above, will receive a scholarship for the tuition costs of up to 3 credit hours beyond 12 credit hours in the succeeding semester.

Full-time students will be given priority over part-time students for dorm occupancy.  Full-time students will be admitted into the dorms on a “first come-first served” policy. 

Returning students must clear their previous balances in order to register for the next semester. On-campus students must be prepared to pay at least “$250.00” during registration at the beginning of the term after expected Federal Pell Grant is applied. A payment plan may be arranged by contacting the business office.

Example Computation:

The expected net cost of an on-campus resident student is $0.00 after financial aid. During registration, if the student has not received their financial aid award, the student must pay $250.00. The remaining balance of $750 can be paid in three monthly rates of $250 each.
